Chapter 6

Word had been spread of William's fate quickly. The Servants, The Guards, and even fellow guild members were truly saddened from this great light being extinguished. Many were crying others trying to take their mind off of the event through their usual schedule, but no one was hurt more dearly than the Heroes who befriended William for most of his life. They met in Maze's old quarters discussing what had happened when a hooded guild member walked up the stairs.

Guild Member: Guildmaster I am truly sorry for interrupting but there is a matter in the Guild halls that requires your attention.

Weaver: What is it?

The messenger stood silent before speaking.

Guild Member: William's Wife is here seeking him.

The others eyes widened as they hadn't realized that Millie couldn't of known what had transpired. All of them turned their gaze upon Weaver whose expression was bot of a sad and uncomfortable nature. Thunder stood before the Guildmaster.

Thunder: I will tell her what happened to William.

Weaver: No, no I will do it. I would not ask any of you to carry this burden.

Whisper started to cry again Briar went up behind her and placed a hand on her shoulder. The Guildmaster started to walk down the steps heading for the Guild entrance, the others soon followed behind him believing Millie will need the support most of all. Weaver started to look outside at the training grounds and started to have a flashback. It was early in William's life when he first began his training. It was in the first weeks of when William had just arrived he was training to the point of exhaustion. William had been striking the hay training dummies with his wooden stick. It was very early in the morning when The Guildmaster came to William wondering what he was doing.

Weaver: What are you doing up still lad.

William: Training.

Weaver: You know training hours were over hours ago.

William: I know but the more practice I do the better I will be.

Weaver: Not if you don't have any sleep lad, you've been working yourself near death.

William: I don't care what happens to me all that matters is that I stop people from getting hurt.

Weaver stood silent as he noticed a tear running down William's face he then placed a hand on his head.

Weaver: Come with me lad.

William is hesitant to stop, but decided to listen to the Guildmaster. The both of them walked over to the Demon door in the training grounds. Weaver lit a lantern near the door and demon door responded to it and opened. Weaver gave William the gesture to go through, but William was hesitant.

Weaver: It alright Lad it's not a trap.

So William entered the door and found himself in a small grotto with a small library and table near the water. Weaver entered and sat down at the table, William soon sat at the table as well.

Weaver: I come here to be alone.

William: Then why am I here?

Weaver: I know things have been rough for you the past few weeks. So for now I will let you study here but on one condition. That condition is that you go get some bloody rest for Avo's Sake.

William looked around for a time until he turned and agreed to the Guildmaster's terms. The Guildmaster found himself back in the dire present. Weaver entered the Guild halls just standing near the entrance, the others stayed back for a moment.

Millie: Weaver: whats going on? Everything went dark an then there was a bright light. I mean Will would usually check in right now is he here?

Weaver gave Millie a saddened look and her face turned into a concerning look.

Millie: Weaver what's happened?

Weaver: There has been an incident.

Weaver paused for what almost seems like a minute. He had told Millie everything he had heard to the last detail. The others enter the room right as Millie falls down to her knees in tears. Whisper runs over and embraces Millie in her arms and nearly starts to cry with her, the others didn't believe they could feel worse than they had already have, but that was proven to be false.

William wanders through the dead forest trying to make sense of the situation. The last thing he remembers is the vortex, but that should have killed him shouldn't it he thought to himself. He tried to look for his sword, but all he found was small piece of shrapnel that had planted itself into a tree and he knew the sword was no more. He continue to wander through trying to see if there is a resemblance in his mind that could give him a clue as to where he is, but nothing came to mind. The woods were completely dead of both of life and happiness. Out of nowhere Will hears a scream of a child coming from behind him. He rushes to the site he stops at a tree to see a little girl and a Mother being threatened by Bandits.

The Mother: Please just let us go we don't want any trouble.

Bamdit 1: Trouble? Oh there won't be any trouble at all missy you can believe that.

The bandits start to approach the two of them with weapons drawn. The mother pushes her daughter behind her. The bandits move closer.

Bandit 1: Now YOU DIE!!!

As the bandit raises his sword to make the final blow he is all of a sudden tackled to the ground and knocked backwards into the other group of bandits dropping his sword At Will's feet. Will picks up the sword and raises it to the Bandits.

William: If you value your lives you will leave these people alone.

The bandit started to laugh hysterically.

Bandit 2: You stop us!?! You might be wearing big heavy armor but we are the law here.

Bandit 3: Yeah you tell him Jimmy!

Bandit 1: GET EM!!!

Alll of the bandits start to charge William, but he kept calm through all of it his sword movements like water running down stream. The Bandits attacks were blocked or dodged while Williams's attacks went through with lethal accuracy. One by one the bandits fell until finally William releases a force push spell that knocks them all back either dead or unconscious. Two of the Bandits were still standing and the dropped their swords.

Bandit 1: I'm not dying for a bloody sandwich!

The two bandits drop their swords and run in fear. William sheathes the sword on his back for future events that may occur.

William: They shouldn't be bothering you anymore I….

William turns around to see the woman in pure horror as she looked onto Will's face. She kept her child close and tries to crawl away.

William: Ma'am is everything alright?

Will steps closer and she screams in terror. She shoots to her feet like a bat out of hell.

Woman: Just stay away from us you monster!!

William is shocked at the remark. The woman runs away in the opposite direction with her child in her arms out of pure terror.

William: No wait I was just trying to… Help.

It was already too late; the woman had been out of Will's sight in mere seconds. He didn't know what was happening or why the woman screamed out of pure terror when she saw him.

William: What in the world was all of that about?

Will walks forward until he kicks an rusty wooden sign. The sign looks old he thought to himself, but at least he now knows where he is. He picks up the sign and rubs the old piece of wood. William drops the sign out of pure shock.

William: That's… That's not possible.

William picks up the sign again to try and comprehend what he had read, but nothing makes sense. On the sign it read Orchard farm. William falls to his knees.

William: This isn't right was it the vortex?

No he thought to himself the vortex could never have an a effect of such magnitude on the land in such a short period of time. This dead wood had taken years for its decay, but how he thought, when could this have happened? No answer came to him only more questions. William picked himself up and looked in the direction of the woman and child.

William: If this is right then Bowerstone should be a couple miles from here, but Avo please tell me this is just a nightmare.

William took a few steps then he stopped. If the woman had such a reaction to just seeing his face who knows how others could react. He noticed then something off into the distance it was a large brown lump on a tree. William walks over to it then notices that it was a large leather bag and then he remembers the man's bag that had been sucked into the vortex. He climbs the tree to retrieve it from the tree and drops it to the ground. William jumps from the tree and opens the bag to see it containing multiple exploration items, but the one thing he noticed immediately was a large grey cloak. William wraps cloak over his plate armor and the bag on his back, then places the hood over his head. Now he appears to be nothing but an explorer, he should have no trouble unless of course he runs into any bandits. He didn't think anything of it and decided to walk to Bowerstone and see if he can solve this mystery.

Days had passed since the vortex incident and word had quickly spread of William's demise. A funeral had been arranged in the Guild Woods for William. People all over Albion had come to pay their respects to the grand hero. The day was dark with storm clouds and rain had begun to fall. It truly was a sad day for Albion. Days had passed since then and the whole Guild was indeed still feeling the effects of the loss. The heroes and even the Guildmaster find themselves alone in the Guild halls just sitting there with misery and regret. Thunder returns from completing all of the Guild quests trying to keep his mind off of everything. He sits at the table.

Thunder: Have there been any more requests?

Weaver: No it would appear there is nothing to do but wait for the time being.

Thunder just looked down on the table keeping his mind off of Will's fate. The room is silent no one had a tale to tell or a joke to share. A guild member walks in.

Guild Member: Excuse me Guildmaster, but the man from the Orchard farm has awoken.

The heroes looked up to the news.

Weaver: I will go to him now.

Just as weaver was about to head upstairs the man stumbles down the steps all while trying to avoid three Guild members from helping him.

Guild Member 1: Please sir you are not well.

The Man: I'm telling you I am fine so please just let me be! Now where is the Guildmaster?

Weaver: What's all this then?

The man looks at the Guildmaster.

Jacob: Oh right then allow me to introduce myself I am Jacob Sullivan at your service.

Weaver: Yes, anyways my name is….

Jacob: Weaver, I know you are the Guildmaster. Ah and those must be the other heroes.

Jacob runs over the table and looks at the heroes.

Jacob: You're Thunder, Briar Rose, and oh Whisper, didn't think to see you in this version.

All of the Heroes are confused by what Jacob was saying. None of them had ever met this man yet he knows their names?

Weaver: How do you know us?

Jacob that will all be explained with time now where is William. I have to thank him.

The room went silent as Jacob had asked his question. Jacob looks around has he can feel the atmosphere.

Jacob: What? Was it something I said.

Weaver: Mr. Sullivan I am sorry, but William sacrificed himself to save you and everyone in this room.

Jacob's face was saddened by the remark and calmed down.

Jacob; I… I'm sorry. If you don't mind my asking how did he…

Weaver: It's alright Will used the energy in his sword to eviscerate the vortex and in turn destroyed himself.

Jacob: Oh dear. I can only imagine how damaged the body must have been in such a explosion.

Briar: The body was never recovered, the explosion evaporated him completely.

Jacob then looked at Briar with a face of confusion.

Jacob: wait a moment. You never recovered the body?

Weaver shakes his head.

Jacob: then did you see any evidence of his demise, a piece of armor or flesh even?

Then Thunder grabs the man's collar in anger.

Thunder: DO YOU THINK THIS IS A JOKE!?!

Whisper: Thunder calm down!

Jacob: NO, no of course not! It just means…

Weaver: Thunder put him down now!

Thunder obeys and the man falls to his knees.

Jacob: He's not dead.

The Heroes were confused by what Jacob was saying.

Jacob: William is not dead.

Whisper: I don't understand how can that be?

Jacob: Allow me to show you.
